The Guardians

There are those among us,

who remain alive,

who live, who strive,

they watch the banks,

they shore the tanks,

to ease the pain,

to fight and strain,

There are those among us,

whose breath is hot,

their warmth has not,

died within the storm,

their blood is not lukewarm,

they feel the pain and fright,

and see it from the height,

there are those among us,

with open hearts and minds,

who look for sealed up signs,

who stand upon the vantage,

we pay the dearest homage,

we peer into the sun,

and fight until we’ve won,

there are those among us,

we choose to not look back,

we barrel down the track,

when death is at the door,

as sickles reap the floor,

our feet are planted firm,

and fear not moth nor wyrm,

when those among us,

arise up from the earth,

and find our greatest worth,

as ibis from the glade,

while sharp from hilt the blade,

we fly into the sky,

to reign with fire and lye,

when guardians awake,

you pray the lord to keep,

He prays to us to weep,

you ask him for protection,

we look in your direction,

we beg for heaven’s sake,

and hope you too will wake.
